I have been trying to use Google COntact Sync and am getting 'Invalid Credentials' errors. I've tried various versions of my google account name (i.e. with / without @gmail.com on the end) and checked i'm trying my password REALLY carefully! But no luck. Each time I retry it adds an extra 'Invalid Credentials' entry to the sync log.

Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

Hi There,
I am using google sync on by Blackberry to sync contacts between Gmail contacts and BB contacts that is working just fine. I downloaded GO Contact sync in the hopes of syncing my Outlook 2007 contacts to Gmail contacts and then google sync would sync up gmail to BB. I can not sync any of Outlook to Gmail at all. What am I doing wrong. I have chosen merge prompt and outlook to google with no luck.

Unhappily I am having similar problems - one way "sync" from Outlook (2,211 contacts) to GMail and get quite a few skipped contacts, but main concern is that no new Outlook contacts at all are coming across to GMail. Message is "no match for outlook contact". That is correct, but why doesn't it then write it to GMail?

Hello dear all,
I've seen that some of our crew has pb to sync contacts from outlook to Google Contacts after having removed all contact in google, so as to start from clean. The error is : Date Time : Information : No match found in Outlook Contact for (Contact Name).
Any Idea on what could be wrong ?

This did not work for me on Outlook 2003 on XP Pro. I'm getting the same error as a lot of other people:

"Information: No match found for outlook contact"

It just repeats that message for all contacts and then says that 0 contacts were synced. Any ideas how I can get around this?

Based on your previous post, even though I am not using a proxy, I created the GOContactSync.exe.config file and entered the following in it:

One more thing...

If it makes any difference or if it helps, I was able to successfully import a CSV of my contacts into GMail. This tells me that the issue I mentioned above must be from within your app and not Google; unless their import feature is totally different than the url that you're using to do the import.

Hi,

I have office 2003 and experienced all issues mentioned here. I have solved almost all of them. I have outlook 2003. I wiped out my google contacts as I didn't care much for them (made my life easier). I am doing a one-way sync to google (for now)

- I think that putting first and last name to all contacts solved the issue (not 100% sure)

Skipped contacts:
- all contacts that had the same phone number twice were skipped. Erasing the duplicated phone number solved the issue
- all contacts that had empty "File Contact As" were skipped with a () warning. Changing the "File Contact As"
- Some contacts were skipped because of issues with primary/other, but haven't been able to pinpoint the problem

I still had 3 contacts (out of 195) that wouldn't upload to google. GO Contact Sync was giving error messages in the taskbar icon, but not on the log. I just erased them and recreated them and it worked. 10/10/2009 6:11 PM | idunk

Thanks for the great program in GO Contact, but I have only ever done one sync of conacts from outlook to gmail, and then when I tried to do it in"merge prompt" mode I got this message:

"Error: Cannot remove the specified item because it was not found in the specified Collection."

A couple of thoughts from my experiments for those seeing the following type of error:

I was getting this as well and found a way on my machine to work through it.
1) I shut down and restarted to make sure everything was clean.
2) Didn't start outlook (2003), just started Go Contact Sync
3) Setup with "Merge Prompt", gmail address, prompt, profile entered.
4) Clicked 'Sync'
5) After a few seconds accepted the access to outlook (known outlook 2003 requirement)
6) It then worked its way along and output a few contacts that needed to be merged. I noted these names and just 'canceled the merge' on each one.
7) Opened outlook and went through these noted contacts ones and found those that had '&' characters in the comments and put in 'and' ('&' noted above as an issue). Also had one that I think a "mailto:" comment may have been the issue.
8) Closed outlook
9) sync'd again

After a few cycles of sync, canceling the merge, fixing contacts in outlook with bad characters, closing outlook, sync it is now syncing cleanly.

This version is working fine for me on Windows XP Sp3 and Office 2003.
I just have a problem in combination with Advanced Security for Office. (1.43)
I want to allow Go Sync to access Outlook Contacts all the time ( not only for 10min)
when i try it, outlook gets full CPU usage and doesnt sync!
Could you test this or tell me a different way to allow sync all the time?

sync is missing couple of fields doing office 2007 to google.

google contacts are missing:

- job discriptions
- birthdays
- photos
- anniversary
- spouse/partner

when are you going to implement a fix?

I get several errors during sync, e.g.

I have used it with Outlook 2003 on Windows XP SP3. With many trials and errors, I have made it work. The crux is to establish the right matches the very first time when I start sync-ing.

To do a complete clean-slate, one possible way is as follows:

a. Backup and delete all Gmail contacts (while making sure your outlook contacts are clean)
b. Empty deleted items in outlook
c. Do a "Reset Matches" : this will clear errors before building the first clean sync
d. Click on "Outlook to Google Only" and do a first sync. This should build a clean set of matches.
e. Click on "Merge Prompt" and do a second sync and for future syncs and it should work fine.

I have tried so many different sync tools (GSynit, Companionlink, gcontactsync, ...) but finally decided this GOContactSync has least of the drawbacks.

There are 3 obvious issues that needs attention (and wishfully to be fixed in the next version):

1. There is a 256 contacts limit when sync-ing from Google to Outlook (discovered this in one of my trials, and I have >500 contacts)

2. Windows cannot shutdown without first manually exiting this GO Contact Sync (kind of unfortunate)

3. When using "Sync Deletion" option, yes it does synchronize the deletion, but the program also delete one extra, normal contact. To work around, after sync-ing with "Sync Deletion", always turn off the "Sync Deletion" do one more sync.

As others have reported, on the 1st sync (which ran for an hour) it reported "No match found for outlook contact ..." on every record and didn't add any contacts to Google. I followed one suggestion to first delete all my Google contacts and import my Outlook contacts into Google, but still get this error. In addition, I now get lots of new errors, like "Warning: Skipping outlook contact" and "Warning: Invalid outlook contact" and "Outlook contacts with the same email have been found. Please delete duplicates"

This latest sync ran for 3.5 hours! It also made Outlook consume 1.2 GB of RAM, instead of the usual 70 - 100MB. And the RAM consumption did not diminish when the sync ended. I also could not close Outlook gracefully -- the process continued to run and I had to manually terminate it.

I'm experiencing all the same things RobertW described above.

Wondering the following, and appreciate any help:

- Does GO log its activity to a persistent logfile on my hard drive? The log presented in the UI is hard to work with.

- Who knows what logic GO uses to compare/merge/update contacts between Outlook and Gmail? I'm getting weird results and can't make sense of them -- i.e. one Outlook contact with two email addresses ends up as two separate contacts in Gmail; but the opposite happens in other cases.

This is working well, now that I've gotten both sets of contacts to be the same, as a baseline to start with. But one thing still doesn't work:

Even when "Sync Deletion" is checked, it won't delete a contact from Outlook when I delete it from Gmail. In fact, GCS notices that the item is gone from Gmail and re-creates it there -- putting it back right where I deleted it from.

Interestingly, deleting works fine in the other direction -- when I delete something from Outlook, the sync deletes it from Gmail.

Can you fix? Thanks!

I had a bunch of contacts in my Hero who were linked to facebook accounts, this info is saved under "Notes" or something similar in Outlook and those contacts were impossible to sync. I removed the links and everything was fine!

Also I deleted all the Google contacts first and made a clean sync from Outlook. 7/2/2010 1:49 AM | Quiksilver

I can't sync any of my contact accounts fully on my Pre since the update. I noticed it first on Facebook. I changed my email address and added my account under the new name. Thinking all was well after the phone told me it finished syncing, I deleted the original account- and lost most of my contacts (only 52 of 496 synced).
